You may have been asked to obtain vital documents such as a valid government issued ID. What does this mean?
In order to confirm your identify, whether you are applying for RAFT or are a new voucher holder, we are required to obtain valid government issued identification for all adult household members/RAFT applicants.
What do you mean by valid?
Valid means the identification is:
- Government issued
- Not expired
- Not damaged
- Can be used for identification purposes: such as a temporary ID where it states it can not be used for identification purposes
What types of Photo identification can be accepted?
- Driver's license (from any state)
- Passport
- State issued ID (from any state)
What will not be accepted:
- Any of the above approved identifications but are damaged, unreadable, or expired.
- A student ID
- A transportation ID
- A shelter ID
How do I obtain a photo ID?
To obtain a photo ID, you will need to go to the nearest Registry of Motor Vehicles: https://www.mass.gov/orgs/massachusetts-registry-of-motor-vehicles
