If you or a member of your household have new income to report, there are a few steps you need to take in reporting it to Metro Housing|Boston. Please note, reporting a new income is only the first step of the process as it is a requirement to provide supporting documents in order for our agency to make a change to your tenant share. You must report any income increases within 15 days.
What to do first? Report the change to our agency.
To report any new income please fill out the form requesting an Interim (a change in your tenant share) by clicking this link:

You will receive confirmation that it is filled out. A staff member will review it within 5 business days to confirm it is filled out correctly.

But please note, you will still be provided the online Cognito Forms link to complete required paperwork if we receive documentation by mail.
Within the form, it will ask for supporting documents such as the following (only as applicable, dependent on the type of new income being reported):
• If you are paid weekly, we need 4 consecutive pay stubs from your new job.
• If you are paid bi-weekly, we need 2 consecutive pay stubs from your new job.
• A benefit letter or snap shot showing identifiable information from Unemployment showing the amount and frequency.
• A benefit letter from Social Security. If you are receiving SSI you may be receiving SSP, you must also provide verification of this through the Department of Transitional Assistance or through the SSP office directly.
• If you are receiving child support through the court system: You will need to provide a letter or snap shot from the Department of Revenue.
• If you are receiving child support outside the court system: you will need to obtain a notarized letter from the parent providing the support showing the amount and frequency of the child support.
These income verifications must be consecutive, legible and must include identification of the person receiving the income. Please note, we are required to calculate wages based on the gross income, not the net or take-home amount.
Can I take a picture of my income change and send it to you?
Yes, documents can be sent as hard copies, PDF, JPEG or other image file formats. They must be an appropriate size, not blurry or cut off and must include identifiable information such as your full name on the documents.
If we receive a documents that are blurry, damaged or does not have your information on it, you should expect a document request in the mail. When submitting documents, please combine the documents and upload as one document/PDF.
Now what? Allow Time for Processing.
Allow 3-4 weeks for processing from the confirmed date of all documents received. Please note, our staff must confirm the information using third party identification which can take several weeks to come back to us.
When will the action become effective?
The action is effective a full months’ notice following the report and completion of documents. If you report the change and fail to provide the required documents, you may face program termination. If you are starting a new job and do not have the pay stubs yet, please communicate this and submit the required documents once you have the required consecutive amount. Please do not submit one pay stub at a time.
You are responsible for your current share until there is a change in your account.
