As the voucher for project based is tied to the unit and is not mobile in nature, in order to qualify to move, you must meet the requirements below:
- Put a request in writing.
- Have been in the project-based program for at least two years.
- Provide a letter of good standing form completed by project-based property owner.
If you meet the basic requirements above, there are two outcomes to the request:
- You may relocate to a unit with the current owner/building if the unit matches your voucher size, is available and is under contract with our agency as a project-based unit. Please note, not all units in your current building will be project based units with our agency.
- You will be added to the opt out wait list for a Mobile voucher and will be contacted regarding eligibility when your name is pulled from the list. Please note, we have no timeline to provide on when a voucher will be available.
How long will this take?
We have no timeline to provide on when a voucher will be available.
I was offered another project-based unit, but I do not want it. When can I move?
If you are offered another project-based unit and reject it, you will be removed from the list to relocate. Please note the only way to reject a unit is if the unit itself is for a specific age requirement which you would note meet (for example, if the building is for individuals who are 62 years old and you are younger than this, you would not qualify for the unit and rejecting the unit would be appropriate).
Are there any exceptions?
In the event there is a domestic violence issues which is verified or an approved Reasonable Accommodation, you may be placed on our forced opt out list and you may be able to move sooner.
