If you have received a termination letter, it will state the reason for your pending termination. Please read the letter carefully:
As stated in the Family Responsibilities and Important Program Information form which is signed by you (the head of household) each recertification, the family is required to follow rules in the Section 8 Choice program. If anyone living in the home violates any of these obligations, the family may be terminated from the program.
Part of this form and under the ‘The family must not’ section:
- Receive another housing subsidy for the same unit or for a different unit under any other federal, state, or local housing assistance program.
If you have received a letter for termination due to receiving other housing assistance, this means it has been reported to our agency you are enrolled in our housing program as well as another housing program to pay for the same unit or another unit. All reports are investigated and verified per program regulations. You as the head of household are responsible for reporting if you are receiving housing assistance already. Please note, housing assistance is in reference to a voucher program and is not related to receiving short term assistance such as RAFT.
