I received a termination letter and don’t know why: Failure to Report Income

If you have received a termination letter, it will state the reason for your pending termination. Please read the letter carefully:

As stated in the MRVP Statement of Family Obligations form which is signed by you (the head of household) each recertification, the family is required to follow rules in the MRVP program. If anyone living in the home violates any of these obligations, the family may be terminated from the program.

Part of this form and under the ‘The family shall’ section:

7. Report changes in household income and/or household composition to Metro Housing |Boston within 30 days of the change. An addition of a household member, other than through birth, adoption, or court ordered custody, must have prior approval.

If you have received a letter for termination due to failure to report income, this means it has been reported to our agency there was new income in the household and it was not reported or verification provided to our agency. All reports are investigated and verified per program regulations.

In the event you receive a termination letter and feel our decision to terminate you from the program is unjust, you can submit an appeal to our agency. To do this:

Appeal Hearing

You will receive a response regarding the status of your appeal from the Hearings Department within 15 business days after the date you appeal is received. Once a hearing is set, you will need to attend virtually or by phone and provide any supporting documents or discussion on disputing the report. The Hearing officer will provide a determination either at or shortly after the hearing. They will also communicate any additional appeals if they uphold the termination.
